Waking up anxious is the worst because the day hasn’t even started yet and you’re already ready for it to be over. You’re tired before you even reach the draining part of your schedule. You’re psyching yourself out before anything bad even happens, making yourself sick with worry. Of course, you can’t help it. Your anxiety is out of your control. It isn’t always logical.
You might be waking up anxious because you have a big day ahead of you. Or you might have absolutely nothing ‘scary’ on your schedule. Your anxiety doesn’t care one way or another. It will rise up, even during your happiest moments.
One of the worst parts of anxiety is that it can strike at any time, with or without reason. You might not have anything stressful on your mind, and still, you will feel that familiar flutter in your chest, that twist in your stomach, and will want to curl up in a ball and hide.
Waking up anxious is the worst because you want every morning to be a fresh start. You want to face the day with strength, fully energized—but your anxiety makes it hard to function at times. It stops you from doing the things you genuinely want to do.
It’s always frustrating when you wake up anxious because you have so much hope in your heart. No matter how stressful your life becomes, you always have faith that it will turn around eventually, that things will change for the better. But waking up anxious starts the day off on the wrong foot. It puts you in a terrible mood before you even had the chance to roll out of bed and eat your breakfast.
Waking up anxious is the worst because you’ve gone through it so many times before. It makes you feel like today is only going to be a repeat of your painful past. Like nothing is different. Like it will never be different.
But you need to remember, waking up with anxiety isn’t your fault. You can’t help the way that you feel. But you have complete control over your actions. Maybe today, you need to give yourself a good rest. Or maybe you need to ignore your anxiety and accomplish your goals anyway. You know yourself best. You know what you can handle.
